Thailand is probably the best known, and most developed, of all dive-destinations in South-East Asia. With access to the Andaman Sea in the west, and the Gulf of Thailand in the east, and a well developed tourism infrastructure, it is easy to understand why.

Areas to dive in Thailand

Bangkok Province

Bangkok is the capital of Thailand and by far its largest city with an estimated population of over 10 million. Khao San Road is a famous starting point for backpackers and tourists alike, and is full of travel agencies willing to arrange dive trips to anywhere in Thailand.

Krabi Province

Krabi Province and the Andaman Sea have a number of excellent dive sites. You can find dive resorts at almost every coastal destination in the region and on the islands that tourists visit. Dive resorts on Phuket will visit some of these sites too.

Surat Thani Province

Surat Thani Province is on the east coast of Southern Thailand, and shares borders with Chumphon Province, Krabi Province, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Phang Nga Province and Ranong Province, as well as Myanmar and the Gulf of Thailand.

Koh Chang

Koh Chang is the second largest island of Thailand, located on the Thai east coast 310 km away from Bangkok near the border to Cambodia in the Gulf of Thailand. The name means Elephant Island. It is a mountainous island with several waterfalls and rainforest.

Phang Nga Province

Phang Nga Province is on the east coast of Southern Thailand, and shares borders with Krabi Province, Ranong Province and Surat Thani Province, as well as the Andaman Sea. It's also connected to Phuket Province by road bridge.

Phuket

Phuket is Thailand's largest island and also its second smallest province. Most dive sites are off nearby islands, but distances are fairly short and there are dozens of dive shops and boats to cater to your needs, mostly based near Chalong Pier.
