La Union provides access to a highly varied diving experience - drop-offs, cavern diving, with an abundance of sea-life. Fagg reef is a arge flat reef at 40 feet with sharp drop-offs to the north and west sides. Sharks, barracuda, sea snakes, moray eels and other friendly sea creatures adorn the area where visibility is excellent most of the time. Adjacent to the Baung Beach, the Research Reef has several tunnels, caverns and crevices. Tamyo reef, south of Poro, is a small deeper known as Tamyo. Water is 40 to 85 feet with nice crevices. Several large fish have been taken here. Good lobstering at night. Fourteen Mile reef is a must for serious and experienced diver. Approximately one hour and 15 minutes from the Poro radomes, will put you on a large and almost virgin reef that is actually an extension of the western edge of the Lingayen Gulf. You are almost completely out of sight of landmarks so the services of a local boatman are a must. The reef is several miles lone. Depths range from 30 to 120 feet with western edge dropping away to over 800 feet. Excellent for shells, fishing, photography or just sightseeing. Nearest land is the island off the town of Bolinao, Pangasinan to the south, with palm trees of the nearest island just barely seen on the horizon. Black Buoy. Marking the right side of the channel on departure located at the mouth of San Fernando Harbor. The reef is mostly flat on top and to the east, 30 to 40 feet deep. Best area is about 100 yards north of the buoy along the drop-off in 40 to 70 feet of water. Caverns and coral reefs with lobsters and nice grouper (up to 100 pounds), nurse and large turtles are seen.
